Barcelona Street Art…

Some may call it ‘graffiti’ or ‘tagging’ or maybe even an eye-sore, but we found some of the art work on the shop shutters eye-catching, striking, funny, beautiful and in some cases pretty stunning…

La Vinya del Senyor, Barcelona

One of the most wonderful wine bars we’ve ever visited and somewhere we love to go back to, time and time again…especially on an afternoon when it’s almost entirely ours…

With over 300 wines to choose from, including a selection that changes every fortnight that’s available by the glass if you don’t want a bottle, the view of the amazing Santa Maria Del Mar is the icing on the cake – or rather the foam on the top of a perfect glass of cava…

Tibidabo Aeroplane – Barcelona

Tibidabo Aeroplane

Mike took this photo a couple of years ago on a visit to Tibidabo Amusement Park in Barcelona, using the ‘Colour Select’ feature on his Canon camera.  It’s one of my favourite photographs.

It’s a replica of the airplane that made the first flight between Barcelona and Madrid, was inaugurated in 1928, and is one of the few original rides left in the park.

Errr...that's a LONG way down...

I couldn’t pluck up the courage to go on a ’round trip’… Part of its circuit is out over the edge of Tibidabo mountain (at 512 meters it’s the tallest mountain in the Serra de Collserola) and trust me it was a LONG way down… Made me have a bit of a funny turn just looking over the edge!  Yes I know its probably very securely attached – in fact it’s been securely attached since its inaguration in 1928 (actually that doesn’t make me feel any better about it…), but no way no how was I climbing in and trusting that my added weight might not be that pound too far…!

Children continue to love it though which is all that matters!
