Barcelona…(two weeks and counting…)

Then it’s just two 4-day working weeks, with a nice 4-day weekend in between them, and it’s Barcelona here we come!
Not that we’re looking forwards to it of course, or that I’ve started my packing list already…Or that I’m doing my usual panic-stricken brushing-up on my incredibly rusty Castellano…
Tibidabo Aeroplane – Barcelona
Posted: March 1, 2012 | Author: Jacquie Finister | Filed under: Barcelona Posts, Photography, Travel | Tags: Barcelona, Catalonia, Serra de Collserola, Spain, Tibidabo, Tibidabo Amusement Park | 2 Comments »Mike took this photo a couple of years ago on a visit to Tibidabo Amusement Park in Barcelona, using the ‘Colour Select’ feature on his Canon camera. It’s one of my favourite photographs.
It’s a replica of the airplane that made the first flight between Barcelona and Madrid, was inaugurated in 1928, and is one of the few original rides left in the park.
I couldn’t pluck up the courage to go on a ’round trip’… Part of its circuit is out over the edge of Tibidabo mountain (at 512 meters it’s the tallest mountain in the Serra de Collserola) and trust me it was a LONG way down… Made me have a bit of a funny turn just looking over the edge! Yes I know its probably very securely attached – in fact it’s been securely attached since its inaguration in 1928 (actually that doesn’t make me feel any better about it…), but no way no how was I climbing in and trusting that my added weight might not be that pound too far…!
Children continue to love it though which is all that matters!
